Welcome
As I’m writing this, I’m thinking about the fact that you probably don’t know a thing about me. Maybe this is your first time reading one of my texts. Maybe you have no clue who I am. Probably. Maybe you have no idea how you landed on this page, but here you are, reading about spirituality – a topic you likely have never been confronted with and don’t know a thing about. But still, you might be interested in learning more about the journey. Maybe you were strategically searching for education on the topic because you’re already at a point where you want to learn more. I do not know. But let me tell you this much; trying to understand the spiritual aspect of life has shaped the way I think, the way I act and the way I am.
It’s going to be a long journey since spirituality is a huge topic and can be applied to any situation in life really. But once you get into it a little bit more it will turn your life to the better. You will be more trusting, calm, understanding and happy. And if this is something that sounds good to you so far, perhaps my notes on the topic might be interesting to you. And I happily invite you to keep reading. Welcome to THE DIARY OF SPIRITUAL DISCOVERIES WITH VALENTINA.
What is spirituality about?
To someone who has never heard the term spirituality before, I would say that spirituality is the science of the soul. But the paradox is the fact that spirituality is the only thing in life that we can’t really explain with science at all. It’s about energy and vibrations, experiences, feelings, emotions and attraction. It’s nothing we can measure. We feel it. But more on this later.
The main subject of spirituality is the soul. As C. S. Lewis said; “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body”! It’s important to distinguish between your body and what’s inside. Have you ever asked yourself how you are different from a dead body? They have eyes like you, hands like yours, hair and skin like yours, legs like yours – but why are they dead? The answer is simple – it’s the fact that they don’t have a soul anymore. Your soul is the reason you have feelings, why you find something beautiful or incredibly heartbreaking. It’s what gives you the ability to laugh, to experience life – whether the experiences are ugly or beautiful. Your body in the end is just a tool for you to be able to move around on this planet, to make human experiences.
Spirituality essentially tries to explain why we are the way we are, what the general purpose of life is and what our individual purposes on this earth are too. Once you get more into the topic, you’ll eventually realize how small and insignificant we are as individuals and how big and majestic everything around us is.
Where do we come from?
As my example with the dead body before somehow showed, souls travel. We get born, we grow, we learn, we make experiences, we laugh, we cry and someday we die again. Our bodies get buried. But where does our soul go? You need to know that a soul has no form or silhouette. A soul is energy. You can’t touch it. You can’t see it either. But they are always there. The soul can’t die.
To be specific, our souls leave the bodies after death and travel somewhere else. Dr. Michael Newton has written a book about our unbelievable journey after death called “Journey of Souls” that I highly recommend you read.
After death we go home to where we come from which is the universe. We’ll reflect on our life, learn a few lessons and decide on what else we need to learn and experience. We chose a life that will suit these requirements and will be reborn to make these new experiences. Rebirth and reincarnation are highly present in the studies of spirituality. Buddhists and Hindus also very much believe in the process of reincarnation. In general, spirituality and religion are related closely, while still portraying some significant differences, by the way.
What is our purpose?
Many people have asked themselves before what our purpose in life is and have not yet found a satisfying answer. Is it the simple act of reproduction? Is it to decorate this planet and fill it with living creatures? When questioning this critically, we find that we might think that we don’t have any purpose at all. Nature is completely capable of surviving without us.
The simple answer is improvement. We don’t provide any benefits for our planet. However, our planet earth does offer us many things. On this earth we learn, we love, we fight, and we have human experiences. And with every life we are expected to be better. To eventually become a better soul. And this is where karma enters the game.
What is Karma?
I’m sure karma is a term you have heard before. It is used frequently in our language. Yet I question whether many people understand its core meaning. Karma is basically of what you do and did. Good and bad. Karma is something you accumulate while living your life while at the same time breaking it down and removing it from your soul.
Think of it like this: Whenever you do something good, you reduce your karma – but whenever you do something bad, you accumulate it. At the end of your life, you have a pile of karma. Now, it will take you a certain amount of time to get rid of all this bad karma that you accumulated with all your evil and selfish actions. It might take you a few years, but the truth is, it might take you more than hundreds of lifetimes. This is what I meant with improvement being our purpose. We work on ourselves. We try to become better. Be kinder, more generous, more loving.
In important aspect of karma is that it’s fair. Whatever you do will happen to you. But the consequences aren’t immediate. They happen over different lifetimes. People have a hard time understanding this. Your actions now determine the outcomes of future lives. This is important.
Often, I hear people say that “life’s just not fair”. But the truth is, it is. Absolutely and unapologetically. Are you a liar, you will get lied to, are you a thief, someone is going to steal from you, did you break someone’s heart, yours eventually will be broken. But it goes the other way around too. It’s a beautiful concept. It pushes us to be better.
How becoming a spiritual person will transform who you are
Now of course, the whole subject is much more complex. More aspects include where we get to when we worked all this karma off, what happens after thousand’s lifetimes lived, what role destiny plays, what soulmates and leaders are, what an old and what an immature soul is and so on. It’s a whole new world, but it will change your life for the better.
With that being said, I hope to see you again soon in another chapter, learning something new! Love, Valentina
