There have been written great things. Your story could be great too, if you didn’t let fear limit you. Photo: Pexels
The other day I was speaking with someone about our biggest fears. And you know what my biggest fear is? Staying little, when I could be great. Being mediocre when I could achieve big things. Currently, I’m reading ‘A little life’ by Hanya Yanagihara’, a book that has received international recognition. And for good reason because it’s truly great.
What we would be able to if we tried
And I thought to myself, how great does a mind have to be and how much depth does a soul need to have, to be able to create such a deep and meaningful and touching story, to be able to fill almost 800 pages and truly touch a reader’s heart while they’re reading that book?
Then I thought, what if this person had ever let herself be stopped by her mind that limited her? What if she had ever thought that she was not good enough of a writer to create a book that would be such a massive success? The world would have been deprived of a work of art, something this book most definitely is!
What the world would miss out on if you stayed little
What if I were actually able to create something just like that, a true work of art? But I don’t because of my limiting beliefs, imposed by my limited mind? What if you were able to create something amazing? But you don’t, because you fear what others might think of you, because you fear that you’re just not good enough?
What if you were the next Gabriel García Márquez, the next Picasso, the next Céline Dion, or the next Walt Disney? But you stay little because you’re afraid… We all have a higher calling, a purpose, passions, something we love to do and something we’re really good at.
Find your inner genius – and nourish it
But our society has learnt to stay silent, stay lazy and do ever do anything. There are people who write amazing books, have wonderful voices, the most deep messages to share, practice pottery, paint the most beautiful paintings, sew their own clothes, fly planes over this endless planet, and run marathons?
Do you even know what you would be able to do if you just put your phone down for a moment and stopped doubting yourself? The world desperately needs people who still have the courage to create, to expose the depth of their souls to the world, who inspire and actually have the gut to deliver something to the world.
Make the world richer by leaving your traces
The world would be so much poorer if people didn’t choose to take their walls down once in a while and face their fears. I encourage you to be more, to do great, to deliver something you were meant to do, to follow your path and higher calling, to finally give in to your purpose and embrace your destiny and soul plan. Even – or especially – if you’re scared.
Don’t stay little when you could be great!
