The question of gender has become a complicated one. And to be honest, one I’m tiptoeing around. However, spirituality has a clear approach as to what role the genders play in our society. And it’s not an unimportant question to be honest, which is why I want to address the topic here.
Do Souls have a Gender?
No, souls do not have a gender. Gender, amongst many other things, is a biological aspect that gets created and dies with the human body. Souls are able to inhabit bodies of both genders, depending on the experiences they want to make. This means that it’s possible that a soul lives the life of a woman in this life and one of a man in the next. But the soul itself in its pure state is ‘only’ energy. When we go back to the spirit world in between lives we are actually genderless. This is explained by Dr. Michael Newton, one of my favorite authors on the topic. He says that any kind of souls, whether that’s the ‘normal’ one – so the ones that still inhabit human bodies – whether that’s spirit guides or creator souls too, they don’t have a gender.
What’s the Purpose of Gender?
Once we decide to live our next life it comes to choosing the most fitting body for the experiences we are looking for and the lessons we want to learn. I explained this in detail here. Of course, our lives will be different when we’re male vs. when we’re female. We’ll engage with other people, have different jobs, be mothers or fathers, and so on. Meaning, in the end, our experiences will be different, which is why we choose our body with caution.
The gender you now have is well fitted for you and your life. It will enable you to have the life you’re supposed to live, with all the necessary experiences and lessons included. What those experiences will be, that’s on the universe.
Can we have the wrong Gender?
It’s important to mention that souls can be drawn more or less to a certain gender. And therefore, they prefer bodies with that gender. I believe Newton stated in his book that the percentages that we chose a body we prefer in comparison to one that we will feel less comfortable in is 70% to 30%. Nevertheless, it’s necessary to go through life in the shape and form you chose to be born in for reasons I have explained above.
Should we change it?
I’m addressing this because I know that the world seems to be stuck in an endless debate whether we should or could change our gender. And I know that discussions like these are hardly a black and white thing. Personally though, from what I have learnt so far, we should not change our gender, even if we don’t feel entirely comfortable living our life with it.
Also, I’m no expert in how and to what degree it can affect you, but still, I’m a big defender of the universe, of destiny, of our spirit guides and of our own choice. Which, in the end, states that your choice about your current life was the best one for you in every way. The things you learn living this life are tailored to your journey and your growth. And even if your life is hard, it will help you evolve in a way that’s best for you. This whole topic I discussed in this text. Feel free to read it 🙂
See you next time, with love,
