If in this moment you find yourself in a situation where you’ve lost touch with spirituality, your intuition, you haven’t meditated in a while, you haven’t learnt anything new either, you’re just living day after day without intention, maybe it’s time to get back into a life that’s richer in spiritual practices again. And I’m writing this as an inspiration for myself, as I have been feeling exactly like that the last few weeks. Here’s what I do to feel spiritually better again 🙂
Take time for yourself
First off, the main reason for me personally to ever get stuck in autopilot is to just be overwhelmed with the life I’m living at the moment. Can you relate? Me, I have to balance university, a side job, household chores, physical activity, personal hygiene, relationships and friendships, hobbies, etc. It’s so easy to loose sight and ignore the things that aren’t a top priority. However, our priorities are not always what we enjoy most. My focus at the moment lies on my job and on my studies. Which is why I tend to neglect time for myself and with my friends. So, as hard as it is to prioritize some time outside of work, I know how necessary it is. It’s not like I wouldn’t have 10 minutes a day. I do. But as I’m so stuck in trying to accomplish everything, it’s easy to waste an hour on my phone in my bed. I think that will give me the relaxation I need. But it won’t.
Try to regularly make time for yourself to rest, read, stretch, speak to people you care about, go outside, meditate once in a while, have a coffee on your balcony and just get lost with your thoughts. I’m not saying that this will lead to your spiritual awakening, it’s not that easy. But it will help you live a more present, conscious and purposeful life. It’s the little things that at the end add up and make us take time for what we need.
Have conversations
Having an open mind to what other people have to say is so healthy and necessary for growth of thought. Other people know so many things that we don’t – and we don’t even know what we don’t know. So, if you once in a while meet someone who has interesting views on how the world works – spirituality included of course – take the time to listen to them. It such a gift to have people open their minds to you. Even if you don’t engage in any spiritual practices at all, having conversations with other people about the things that interest you is one of the best and fastest ways to learn more, get inspired and have an open mind.
I remember one girl I used to live with for a few months who had such unique ways of seeing the world and how it worked that I was interested in every little thing she had to say. I would go to her for advice and I would feel honored when she came to me for advice.. One night we would just stand in the kitchen and have such a deep conversation that was really eye-opening. And the reason I remember is because it was so impactful to me that it (or she) changed certain views of life that I had. And I didn’t need to go out and seek that knowledge. Instead I chose to connect with that spiritual being and listen to her. Big gift! Recommend big time!
Get inspired
If you really look for it, it’s easy to find inspiration everywhere. I mean, nature or other people (as I wrote about above), or art or music are such things, of course. These are some of the things that bear meaning in our society. Spending time in a place that physically makes you feel happy is another such thing. But what I really mean is turn to content. And I’m usually not very pro digitalization. But I’m telling you, there is so much content on instagram for example, that can easily lift your spirits if you need it. On my Instagram account I follow such people. So, if you’re looking for some, go look there. Another thing I do is listen to people’s podcasts or videos on Spotify or YouTube. Such ‘creators’ would be Dr. Joe Dispenza or Dr. Wayne Dyer. In 10 or 20 minutes they can explain things in a way that will really make you question how life works.
And of course, read books if you can. There are so many amazing ones out there. And I mention them in my blog over and over again, because to me they are so meaningful. My favorites are Journey of Souls, The Alchimist, Becoming Supernatural and the Way of the Peaceful Warrior. Again, have an open mind and you’ll be inspired and touched!
Adapt a routine
As I said above, if we’re overwhelmed with our daily lives and don’t have much time in a day that we could dedicate to spiritual practices the only real way is to make them part of your routine! You can include a ten minute meditation in your morning routine. Worst case is you’ll have to get up ten minutes early. It’s totally possible to listen to a podcast on the go or read a book in the train. Make a habit of asking people more profound questions when you get the chance to hang out. That will not only deepen your bond but you’ll also get the effect I mentioned above. And overall try to listen more to your intuition, maybe start praying or talking to your spirit guides. If you’re not sure on what your beliefs truly are, make an effort to learn more.
I know what I preach here isn’t easy. I too didn’t find ten minutes between running around the city, trying to get everything done. At the end of the day it’s a question of discipline and whether or not you really want to achieve something. Personally, I used this blog to reconnect with what I intend to build – intuition, guidance, faith, understanding. You get the point.
Seek answers
Because I know how preoccupied we can get with our busy lives, I mainly mentioned easier/low effort things. But if you really want to reconnect with spirituality – maybe because you have done so in a period of your life where your situation was different – then I want to encourage you to actively live your life with the intention to seek answers. Answers about spiritual matters that would bless your life that for some reason you weren’t able to learn yet. Reading books is a big part of that already. But if you want to dive deeper you could go to therapy, do spiritual readings, tarot readings, hypnotherapy, reiki courses, palm readings, ayurveda courses, visit ashrams etc.
Personally, I did get my hand read by someone in Rome (it’s debatable if you want to believe in their legitimacy or not). The things this guy told me almost made me cry. He pointed out things that I knew were all true but refused to realize myself (because self-realization is just hard, right). That’s what I’m saying! Expose yourself to situations that will show you things you are not able or willing to see by yourself. Only after we have done it, we realize how blind we sometimes walk through life when the answers are just everywhere!
If you were stuck a little and living your life on auto-pilot, having lost touch with spirituality, I hope I could inspire you to do a thing or two to get back in touch with spirituality!
Thank you for sticking around.
Love, Valentina <3
