This time, I wanted to write about chakras, the energy centers in our body. They are considered very important when it comes to spirituality. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to fully understanding how they work and what they do. It will also be a topic that I can write more than one text about as I’m growing my knowledge on the topic. For now, I invite you to understand the basic concept of the chakras, as they are explained in “Becoming Supernatural” by Dr. Joe Dispenza, the book I’m reading currently.
What is a Chakra?
Our bodies function with energy. Every cell consists of energy. It allows us to everything we do. Our minds determine the feelings we feel and as a consequence on what frequencies we vibrate. We have seven parts in our body where the energy flows through at all times. When we are healed and healthy, the energy can flow freely, and we feel good. But it’s possible that we are blocked in certain parts of our body due to traumas, injuries and wounds. The energy will then be stuck in the chakra that is affected by that wound. The aspects that are associated with that chakra will then not function properly and cause problems.
The Root Chakra
The first chakra, called the root chakra, is located where our sexual organs are in our body. It is linked to excretion and sexuality. It’s a very creative and fruitful place in our body. It can even create human life. When the energy is balanced, we feel in tune with our sexuality. However, if we experienced sexual trauma, when we’re sexually depraved or addicted to sex, the root chakra is out of balance. The results of a block in the root chakra are the fact that the energy in our body is hindered in our lowest chakra, and therefore has trouble flowing to our other chakras. We might then feel the need to release this energy by more sex or by other outlets.
The Sacral Chakra
The second chakra is located just above the root chakra. It manages several organs and their functions, like food intake, digestion and conversion of food into energy. It is associated with relationships to other people, especially family. The emotional trauma we might have, appears in this chakra as guilt, shame, low self-esteem, lack or feelings of being a victim. If you resonate with any of those feelings – and think you feel them often – there is a possibility of your sacral chakra being blocked.
The Solar Plexus Chakra
The third chakra is located in the middle of our tummy. It manages most of the remaining organs like spleen, liver and kidneys. It’s associated with strength, control, aggression, dominance and will power. Is your solar plexus chakra balanced, you will be using the strength and personal power to create a life you enjoy, building a career, a family, a house maybe, etc. This chakra also gives you the strength to protect yourself in dangerous situations. However, if there’s an imbalance in this one, these feelings could take control over you. They will then make you feel competitive, impatient, selfish and self-centered.
The Heart Chakra
The first three chakras are linked to our human – or even animalistic – nature and our conscious self. The fourth chakra and upwards are associated with our higher self and therefore help us stay in tune with our soul, when balanced of course. The heart chakra is linked to the heart and the lungs, and it stimulates the immune system. This energy center makes us move from beings selfish to being selfless. We assign love and care, joy and happiness, kindness and benevolence, trust and gratitude to the heart chakra. Whenever this chakra is balanced, we feel a strong (or let’s say a healthy) urge to be there for others and feel the need to share our love. We are also kind and caring to ourselves.
The Throat Chakra
The throat chakra, as the name says again, sits in the throat and controls the thyroid and salivary glands. It is matched with speaking the truth, it’s where we express love too. Is this chakra healthy and balanced, we feel comfortable with voicing our needs and feelings, standing up for ourselves, making confessions, apologize, etc.
The Third Eye Chakra
The pineal gland sits right where our Third Eye Chakra is located, which is between the back of our throat and the back of our head. This is the place that opens the gates to higher dimensions and is receptive to light and frequencies of energy. A well-functioning Third Eye Chakra enables us to think clearly. It also makes us feel in tune with our outside- and inside-world. The pineal gland is also the place that lets us visualize things, which is crucial for manifestations and the Law of Attraction.
The Crown Chakra
The Crown Chakra sits at the top of our head and connects us to the divine. It represents higher consciousness and is where your higher self is located. Is this chakra balanced, you’ll feel in harmony with all that is around you – and what is within you as well. Dispenza talks of an eighth chakra. It was called Ka by the Egyptians and it’s the connection to the universe. Most people don’t include this one though, probably because it isn’t located within our body, but around 40 centimeters above our head.
How they are connected to each other
As I said before, we have an energy flow in our body. Each chakra activates another and only when they all are connected to each other – by free-flowing energy – we feel healthy, happy and open to spirituality. Whenever we get wounded emotionally, it affects one of our chakras. The higher up we go in the “chakra-chart” the higher the frequencies get that our body vibrates on. Each energy center has their tasks. It is in our interest to remove energy blocks from our body and heal our wounds in order for our chakras to be able to function optimally. Only then can we operate on a level that is in tune with our higher self and tap into our divine existence as a soul.
