When having gone through the years of my life so far – becoming more and more interested in our spiritual nature with time – I have wondered: Are we all just naturally spiritual? Are there people who don’t care about their soul, what comes after their death and whether there’s more to live than what their personal experiences are at all? And are people who think life ends with death less spiritual (making the implication that reincarnation is a real thing and not just my personal belief)? Are there people who don’t ever listen to their intuition or do they have no intuition at all? What do people who think that everything that happens is just coincidence believe in?
I couldn’t help but wonder: Are those people less spiritual than I am? Are we all the same amount of spiritual at our core? Or can some be more spiritual than others? What about you? Do you consider yourself spiritual?
About the spiritual nature of the soul
We are – and what I’m stating here is what I personally consider to be true through the knowledge I have acquired over the years and through what my intuition tells me! – just visitors on this earth. In our core, we are energy (this is theoretically just what a soul is), that inhabit certain bodies for a limited amount of time in order to be able to live a human life and collect as many experiences as possible that will help your personal growth as a soul.
And that’s why we all choose different bodies in different lifetimes, playing various roles (men, women, white, black, poor, rich, pretty, ugly, smart, dumb, trauma or no trauma, war, peace, etc.). This permits us to learn all kinds of things. To learn all of it (all is the wrong term because learning and growing will never find an end), we must live several lives! Because what someone living a wealthy life in New York learns and experiences differs a lot from someone living in India, or Guatemala, or Australia, or Denmark, you know?
So yes, our nature is spiritual. Every being on this earth has the same home. But that’s where the differences come in.
Different circumstances and destinations
Even though energy can’t be destroyed or created, just changed, all of our journeys start at some point. And so, every one who comes to this earth, this school, this playground, stands at a different point in their growth and spiritual journey. This is where the concept of young soul / old soul comes in. Dr. Michael Newton mentioned in Journey of Souls that some souls started living 30’000 years ago and have lived thousands of lives already. Others started a few hundred years ago and are still very young.
Being younger is nothing bad, it just means these souls are less experienced and struggle more in each life. The older souls have already learned what it’s like to suffer mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. They have had to deal with losses and hardships that not every souls has yet dealt with. Maybe, they were able to develop a stronger intuition and let themselves be led more. They might have a stronger relationship with their spirit guides and started to worry less. And so on. We don’t know that about the others and oftentimes we don’t even really know a lot about our own spiritual journey.
Spiritual hierarchies
Newton also wrote that in the spirit world, which is our spiritual home, where we live between the lives we live on earth, souls live in hierarchies. These hierarchies have nothing to do with power, just with growth. The youngest souls have a white colored aura, and the “older” they get their color might change to yellow and green and lilac and blue. The older souls then start to become spirit guides to the younger ones, offering them spiritual assistance or adapt healing powers for example.
About the amount of spiritual-ness
I have to say that I have met people in my life who have certain “powers”. Either that’s a very strong intuition, or they can read auras, perform reiki, read cards, interpret dreams etc. These are signs of being spiritually more experienced or led, or “older” if you will.
Newton has remarked that the number of years someone has lived has nothing to do with your “age” as a soul, but only with your level of maturity. There can be younger souls who learn quickly and advance faster. Others need many many lifetimes to learn the same thing. And the lessons will repeat themselves until it’s learned. Therefore, they are slower even though they might be reincarnating for longer.
The more spiritual the better?
It’s very important to note that “more spiritual” does not mean better, it might just mean more growth or more intentionality. Personally, I would consider myself interested in spirituality on an above-average level, which is why I love to seek lessons, wisdoms, quotes, videos, knowledge, conversations, etc. I know people who don’t think about such things at all. And that is totally fine! In my opinion the former might mean you’re more open to certain experiences and want to learn lessons with more intentionality. You might try to understand more why certain things happen to you and rather embrace these lessons as someone who negates knowledge about a higher power.
So, no, the more spiritual is not necessarily better. But it’s more pleasant to have something like this to believe in when you do face moments of hardship. Growth might come more easily because acceptance is easier. When you’re more open to something it’s always easier to handle.
And yes, we are all the same amount of spiritual by nature. But we are not all as in touch with this inner and higher world which I call our soul’s core, nature and home.
Learning about spirituality is fascinating. And totally worth embracing. Let me know if you agree and what you have learned!
